Teaching Medieval Europe

Teaching Medieval Europe

Are you always looking for ways to excite students to learn the history of the world? Honestly, it is tough! Students often do not realize how the past impacts the present. Similarly, they do not realize the importance of learning about other countries and time periods. Thankfully, all of that changes when teaching Medieval Europe! There is so much intriguing information to teach in hands-on ways. Luckily, this list of resources offers ready-to-go lessons that students will love learning from.

Charlemagne Body Biography: Hero or Hype?

Students love to share their opinions, whether about the school lunch offered that day or something happening in the world. Thankfully, students now have the opportunity to bring this passion into their learning.

In this fantastic resource, students study King Charlemagne, who was one of the most popular royalties of his time. However, students focus on his accomplishments to argue whether he was a hero or his popularity was just hype. Students will read, write, and support their claim with specific evidence in this creative biography project.

Everything teachers need is within this resource! There are teacher instructions, instructional slides, a reading on King Charlemagne, and a printable poster. There is even a pre-write graphic organizer, a rubric, and student examples!

Students will love analyzing King Charlemagne’s accomplishments in this project!

Medieval Europe Stations

Learning must be hands-on and student-centered. Thankfully, this is not a problem when teaching Medieval Europe with these stations. They are content-rich, student-centered, and interactive.

Specifically, there are 9 stations with close readings detailing the roles of key players and concepts. This includes The Pope and the Catholic Church, lords and knights, monks, The Magna Carta, The Black Death, and more!

All of the readings include pictures, charts, and maps. Additionally, there are questions and interactive mini-activities. A separate Medieval worksheet is available for teacher use. If teachers do not want to use worksheets, there is a fun foldable chart activity.
