You are going to love this activity set, which is both digital and print! This Civil War Battles lesson set has three activity choices in one. Students learn about ten battles with either station readings, a Google map activity, or a fun game!

This activity set covers all the bases with or without technology and allows teachers to choose what works best for their classes and teaching style. The activities can be done individually, or they can be easily broken up into pairs or groups. Here’s what you get:

  • A great one-page Setting the Stage reading isto be done before any format is chosen.
  • A visually fantastic ten-station chunked readings activity with Civil War station signs with soldier pictures, battle maps, a satellite map that students label, and a student-driven graphic organizer with an answer key.
  • A Google map activity set that comes with a link to a completed Google map that has students click and zoom in to where the battles took place. Each click has pictures and information. Students can either record information from the map on a graphic organizer or create their maps to share with the class! A video link is supplied to show students and teachers how to pin locations on Google Maps, and paraphrase provided information about each battle! This is so cool! A HOW TO VIDEO is included.
  • A Civil War Battle Face-Off game in which students pair up and choose a side to read about on a bifold battles page. After reading, the pair evaluates which battle contributed more to the Civil War’s outcome. A winning side is determined, and the winner of that battle Face-Off round gets points!Students complete a top 10 battles of the Civil War graphic organizer based on their evaluations. An answer key and teacher directions are provided!
